‘I discovered after my own journey through illness and loss that while one person may like to talk about their issues, another might prefer to use movement, journaling, art or a combination of methods to focus not on artistic outcomes but rather on the process of creating new ways of understanding how they live in the world.’
Janeen Cameron is the Director of Art4Success and Quitwise. She is a former Registered Nurse and Occupational Health, Safety and Rehabilitation Consultant, and holds a Master of Arts Therapy, Bachelor of Art, and Diploma of Health Science from Curtin University and Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia.
Janeen is a lecturer in Transpersonal Art Psychotherapies at the IKON Institute, a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Master NLP practitioner, ‘Art in Parenting’ and ‘Art of Caring’ workshop facilitator.
Janeen is the mother of a daughter through adoption and carer for her elderly mother.
After the experience of living in numerous remote mining areas within Australia and China, Janeen has become the master of transitions. Her focus is on the social and cultural impacts of relocation and reinvention.
As a practicing Artist, her paintings visualise the transitions occurring in life: relocation, separation, health, loss and grief. Janeen is interested in the impact of attachment, bonding and identity development.
She has a passion for the unconscious stories that individuals and families develop and invent, reinforcing how they view themselves and operate. Stories either enable or disable the present and the future, the way we travel, our motivation, our true self, intimacy and satisfaction.
The alteration of self-perception is what Janeen defines as ‘the transformation’. How to Get a Bigger Bite out of life, Janeen’s co-authored book, allows the reader to decipher ‘the self-made maze’, to improve your capacity to change. Embracing the unique you, relishing this change and taking action for the life you deserve, is the most exhilarating path you will ever walk.

Art Therapy Process
Art therapy is a psychotherapy modality that utilises creative outlets to improve and enhance physical, mental and emotional well-being. Therapists are trained to use visual arts such as painting, drawing, sculpture, sand-play, clay therapy and craft under a psychoanalytical theoretical-based framework with set boundaries to promote self-expression, self-awareness and self-development.
Ultimately this empowers the client to achieve positive outcomes in their life. Other methods such as storytelling, drama/psychodrama, creative writing, dreams, symbolism, dance, rhythm, music and poetry are also considered forms of transpersonal art therapy.
Art therapy is particularly useful for people that have difficulty verbalising their feelings (such as children and migrants), trauma and PTSD, those suffering from mental and/or physical health problems or for those where verbal psychotherapy has been unsuccessful. Working with art allows the client to visualise and externalise emotions and feelings, into artwork, constructing a sensory depth to its expression. People, places and problems can be seen as 'separate' from the client. This creates an incredible sense of safety and possibilities: to view hardships as a temporary phase in an ever changing life. There is no prerequisite in creative ability and the focus is not on the final product but the journey. The therapist emphasises client-facilitated meaning making and creative process to uncover meaningful, character-building truths in a nurturing environment.
Arts therapy can encourage clients to:
- Express feelings that may be difficult to verbalize
- Explore their imagination and creativity
- Develop healthy coping skills and focus
- Improve self-esteem and confidence
- Identify and clarify issues and concerns
- Increase communication skills
- Share in a safe nurturing environment
- Improve motor skills and physical co-ordination
- Identify blocks to emotional expression and personal growth.
Coaching And Personal Development
Coaching began in the 1980’s in the United States. At first, some people used to see either a psychotherapist or analyst to help them overcome a specific problem such as giving up smoking, suffering depression etc.
It was soon discovered that these people referred to as ‘patients’ didn’t have a ‘condition’ they just felt that their lives were out of balance, with a feeling that there is more to life. Life Coaching became a specific field of study with its own methodology.
At Art4Success our aim is to guide our clients exploration & development of self-awareness. Coaching encourages a curiosity to objectively discover our beliefs, behavioural patterns and our individual map of the world.
Growth and Development Coaching assists the client to achieve whatever they want in any area of their life. It identifies where the individual is currently in their lives, where they want to be, and find choices for closing the gap.
One of the main outcomes of this is to understand how our way of operating in the world, and our stories, impact our decision-making processes. This leads to the understanding of where we need to be flexible and resourceful through empowering beliefs, attitudes, goal setting and strategies.
This transition forward ultimately creates success in the aspects of life that we value and want to excel in.
Behaviour Profiling Extended DISC
For Ages 14 +
People who feel comfortable with their lives and are considered to be ‘successful’ by others tend to share a number of common traits, with self-awareness at the top of the list.
Remember Success is defined differently by each individual at different stages of life
They recognise their strengths and this knowledge helps them to find ways to achieve their objectives. They are aware of their limitations in areas where they are less effective and use this knowledge to avoid experiences where they will not be effective and at their best.
Those who understand their natural behaviour preferences are more likely to pursue the right opportunities at an appropriate time in order to achieve the results they believe are achievable. Research suggests that Success and Self Awareness are inextricably linked.
The Extended Disk model is based on the original work of Dr Carl Jung and then William Marston who developed the DISC model in the late 1920s. The power of the model is that it identifies just four behavioural styles – it is easy to understand and the online assessments take little over 10 minutes to complete.
Under the Extended Disk guidance of Janeen Cameron, you can expect to learn a great deal about your personal preferences and behavioural styles. You can use this knowledge to:
- Achieve a higher level of personal awareness
- Improve interpersonal relationships
- Choose an occupation that is best suited to your skills and aptitudes
- Understand why you behave in a certain way under certain circumstances
- Learn how to harness your strengths … and improve areas which you find challenging
- And more…
Extended Disk is for individuals … and it is also for organisations, large as well as small, which seek to harness the very best that their people and employees can offer and improve the performance, communication skills and effectiveness of their individuals, teams and managers.
Extended Disk for Career and Business.
Studying your own behavioural Profile will no doubt change your understanding of people and their problems by encouraging you to look for client strengths in ways you may not have considered before. Acquiring skills in the use of the Behavioural Profile will be an invaluable means for enhancing your managerial and leadership abilities.
The use of the communication model within EDISC can be a way to promote self-sufficiency and independence in the employees you work with, helping them to feel more in control, resourceful, and self-assured.
What you focus on, you amplify in your awareness.
